World Cup Soccer Jerseys Castrol Weekly Top 20- Is Keane in the MVP hunt-_2

Keane is joined on this week’s list by teammate Edson Buddle (No. 3), but Seattle goalkeeper Michael Gspurning may have enjoyed the best week of any player, appearing twice in the Top 20 for each of the two games he played. His performances ranked at No. 5 and No. 10, perhaps giving the Austrian a slight leg up on his rival for Goalkeeper of the Year, Jimmy Nielsen (No. 6).

Goalkeepers take up eight of the 20 spots in this edition of the Castrol Top 20, while there are just two defenders (Tony Beltran at No. 7 and Darrius Barnes at No. 20) and a lone rookie as Nick DeLeon makes a final Rookwholesale soccer kitsie of the Year push with a No. 2 finish.

WASHINGTON — As the rain clouds from an early-daybreak shower lifted on Monday, giving way to the first sub-90-degree morning in the nation's capital more than a week, D.C. United’s players executed a footwork drill on wet grass.

And no surprise, Dwayne De Rosario wasn’t about to slip up.

In fact, D.C.’s star playmaker hasn’t slipped up much at all over the past 12 years, evidenced by the seventh MLS All-Star selection of his career, announced on Sunday.

“It gives me an opportunity to play with some of the players I admire in this league, so I still feel very honored when I’m selected,” De Rosario said.

The league’s reigning MVP, De Rosario was selected to the game via fan voting as part of the First XI. The remainder of the All-Star roster for the game against Chelsea on July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., will be announced on July 15.

“I don’t think anybody was surprised,” D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen said. “People want to see him play. He’s a fun player to watch. A very exciting player.”

The 34-year-old midfielder, who leads the league with 10 assists, has relished hischeap soccer jersey role as captain this season for a side that’s tied atop the Eastern Conference standings with Sporting Kansas City.

“To be considered one of the oldest guys on the team is not the best,” De Rosario said with a smile. “You see these guys calling me 'Grandpa' and stuff like that. But we have a lot of mutual respect for each other. I try to share a lot of advice and experience with them. Things they can do better individually and things we can do better as a group.”

Because of a strong wind storm that rolled through the District little more than a week ago, De Rosario was without power for seven days. But he’s had no trouble sparking United this season.

Counted on as D.C.’s main goalscoring threat upon his arrival midway through 2011, De Rosario has transitioned seamlessly into the role of facilitator this year.

“He obviously adapts,” striker Chris Pontius said. “He has done it with a number of different teams, too. To be consistently that good, it shows a lot.”

De Rosario — who plans to attend the ESPYs as a candidate for MLS Player of the Year on Wednesday night — is now just three shy of matching his career high for assists, which he set in 2005.

“It’s a product of where he has been playing on the field,” Olsen said. “As of late, he has been around the goal and he seems to step up and do the job with whatever position we put him in.”

AMSTERDAM – Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht punched their ticket into the group phase of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday with a patient 2-0 win over Cypriot guests AEL Limassol.

After the Mauves had hit twice in the final 10 minutes to score a 3-2 aggregate win, the US international picked up a stoppage time yellow card. Anderlecht will be in seeding pot No. 3 in Friday’s group stage draw, the first time they’ve made it that far since 2006-07.

Meanwhile, Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona were relegated to the Europa League group phase after a damning 1-1 home draw against BATE Borisov played without injured midfielder Bryan Gerzicich. The Israeli champs are in seeding pot No. 4 for that tourney’s draw, also to be held on Friday.

Several Americans took part in a heavy Capital One League Cup slate in England, with Jonathan Spector scoring in a losing cause as Birmingham City were bounced from the second round by a 3-2 extra-time defeat at Coventry City.

Scottish League Jerseys American Exports- Donovan, Howard knock off Blues again_1

AMSTERDAM — Landon Donovan notched another assist and Tim Howard extended his Goodison Park shutout run to 256 minutes as Everton climbed into the better half of the EPL table with a 2-0 victory over visiting Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

Two years and one day ago, the Toffees scored a 2-1 home win over Chelsea that included another Donovan assist. With four saves and some heady cross management, Howard ensured Everton did it one better this time. The US No. 1 has now won three straight home league clashes with the Blues.

Not long after Donovan whistled a shot by the post on four minutes, the home side took the lead through fellow loan returnee Steven Pienaar. The LA Galaxy midfielder made a bid to double the lead on 18 minutes, testing Chelsea netminder Petr Cech with a left-footed drive from long range.

The visitors gradually took control of first half play, but — in part aided by Donovan tracking back faithfully to defend — Everton allowed precious few open looks at Howard’s goal. The Toffees goalkeeper denied Daniel Sturridge and Fernando Torres before the break, then repeated the feat on Spain’s struggling striker past the hour.

Argentina Soccer Jerseys Mariner on Toronto FC loss- “No excuse for that first half”_2

OPTA CHALKBOARD: Fire dominate first 45, make it count

“You can come up with all the excuses in the world – international call-ups and injuries to key players. But I was brought up in an environment where you were dying to get your opportunity to play at a great place like BMO Field or Old Trafford or Highbury. And when your chance came, you made sure that you stayed in the team and you made sure that the manager couldn’t drop you. You can draw your own conclusion from what you saw tonight.”

Even though TFC picked up their play following the opening goal of the game, and then ultimately came close to achieving a comeback with some improved play in the second half, Mariner was candid in calling the match the low point of the season for him.

“When I came into this job, I said that I wanted to get some pride back into the shirt,” Mariner said. “We didn’t have a full strength side by any stretch of the imagination, but this is your opportunity to go and show what you can do. And if that is the lads showing what they can do, then we are going to have a serious issue.”

France Ligue 1 Jerseys Late night, long flight no problem for “focused” Sporting

Late night, long flight no problem for "focused" Sporting

For a team that didn't get to bed until well after midnight, Sporting Kansas City looked a pretty lively bunch in Wednesday night's 2-0 road win over the New York Red Bulls.

Sporting were supposed to fly out Tuesday afternoon for the critical Eastern Conference clash. Instead, bad weather on the East Coast kept the flight grounded for hours in Kansas City.

“That was the longest delay that I've been a part of since joining the league,” center back Matt Besler toldMLSsoccer.comby phone after the match. “I think we waited seven hours in the airport before we took off.”

The plane didn't land in New York until 1:45 am ET. By the time the first head hit a pillow in the team hotel, it was a quarter to three. But when Sporting took the pitch just over 17 hours later, after grabbing an extra hour of sleep on Wednesday morning, they showed no ill effects.

“We weren't too worried about it, to be honest,” Besler said. “I know it sounds bad, getting in so late, but we made our adjustments and we didn't let it affect us at all.”

That's a tribute to his players' professionalism, manager Peter Vermes said.

“The guys had a great attitude about the unfortunate circumstances,” said Vermes, whose East leaders ran their unbeaten streak to seven straight and handed the Red Bulls their first home defeat of the year.

“What are you going to do? It's weather. Everybody understood. The guys were greatcheap thailand soccer jersey . They kept their mind focused on the job at hand.”

And for Sporting, that job entailed pressing the Red Bulls from the opening whistle – an approach that yielded C.J. Sapong's 12th-minute goal and Kei Kamara's header off of Graham Zusi's corner kick in the 21stminute.

“We wanted to put them under pressure and drive opportunities for ourselves,” Vermes said. “The guys were locked in. Really locked in. [New York] had no rhythm coming out of the back. They were very predictable, and that changed the game around. The two goals were bound to come, with our intensity around the attacking half.”

OPTA SPOTLIGHT: Sporting relentless

Sporting were just as energetic at the other end of the pitch, holding the high-powered Red Bulls scoreless at home for the first time this season. That gave Jimmy Nielsen his 12thclean sheet of 2012, one ahead of Houston's Tally Hall for the league lead.

“It was a great team effort, defensively,” Besler said. “The Red Bulls at home are a very, very good attacking team. So it's a job well done to everybody.”

Cheap Soccer Uniforms Crew View- Williams finally gets his chance_1

OBETZ, Ohio – Josh Williams walked off the practice field Wednesday and into four separate media interviews before heading into the training facility.

“It’s different,” he said of the attention. “I’m not used to it. I’ve been here three years and kind of stayed under the radar. If it means I’m playing, I’m happy with it.”

Yes, he is. Williams made his first MLS start and third career appearance when he lined up at center back alongside Chad Marshall for last Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Houston.

Williams, a former Cleveland State player, was signed in September 2010 and played in two CONCACAF Champions League matches, including a start against Joe Public of Trinidad, before the season ended.

He missed 19 games last season between a hip strain and a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He said he mistakenly took an over-the-counter supplement and apologized.

But the Crew stuck with him, and Williams played a half-dozen Reserve League games in 2011 and all four this season.

Australia Soccer Jerseys Euro 2012- Croatia silence Keane, Ireland with 3-1 victory_2

Ireland settled down after the goal and were rewarded in the 19th minute as St. Ledger got around his marker to redirect a free kick into the far corner.

With Croatia controlling the midfield, Keane didn’t see much of the ball, but had some smart touches when he did get on the ball and provided a good deal of hustle on defense. A neat piece of individual skill nearly saw him clean through on goal 10 minutes from the half when he stripped a Croatian defender, but the ball was poked away fom him at the last moment.

Croatia dealt Ireland a cruel blow on the stroke owoman soccer jerseyf halftime as Jelavic was gifted the ball in front of goal from Stephen Ward’s sliced clearance, with the Everton goal-getter making no mistake in poking the ball past Given.

The Eastern European outfit struck once more minutes after the restart as Mandzukic’s glancing header struck the post and rebounded in off Given’s head.

Ireland naturally pushed forward, needing a pair of goals in the final 40 minutes, and perhaps should’ve had a chance at a second just after the hour mark. Gordon Schildenfeld came through the back of Keane’s legs in the penalty area, only for referee Bjorn Kuipers to turn away the distraught LA Galaxy man’s pleas for a spot kick.

World Cup Soccer Jerseys Chivas ‘keeper coach the man behind Kennedy’s rise_2

González’s program has done wonders for Kennedy, who has become well-known throughout the league for his penchant for acrobatic saves and has staked an ironclad claim on the Goats No. 1 shirt.

“We have a really good understanding of what it takes to do the work to be prepared for games in this league,” Kennedy told MLSsoccer.com about his relationship with GonzálezGermany Soccer Jersey. “Every week is different because you’re always dealing with different elements. We have an open dialogue which makes it easier for me to get out of training what I think need to get out of it and what he thinks I need to get out of it.”

Before blossoming into one of the best goalkeepers in the league, Kennedy dealt with a pair of injuries that ruled him out for the 2008 and 2009 seasons, preventing him from winning the starting job.

The low point was a tear in the long head tendon of his left biceps in 2009. González was instrumental in helping the goalkeeper regain his confidence, work through rehab and eventually get to where he is today.

HARRISON, N.J. — When Markus Holgersson nailed a second-half goal that put the the New York Red Bulls in the lead against the Houston Dynamo on Friday night, there were a few of the 15,000-plus fans in attendance at Red Bull Arena who celebrated more than the others: Holgersson’s family.

Playing in front of several family members that he rarely gets to spend time with, Holgersson put forth a man-of-the-match-level performance: a clean sheet and the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win that moved the Red Bulls back into first place in the Eastern Conference.

“It’s always fun to play in front of them, especially since they are not here so often,” said Holgersson after the game. “It’s always fun to do an okay game when they are here.”

Holgersson did more than okay. He fought off a slow start and settled in to put together arguably his best performance of the season. He snuffed out several Dynamo attacks, playing more physically than he has in recent games and doing well to stand up against Macoumba Kandji on all but one occasion.

It was a bit of redemption for Holgersson after struggling mightily against Kandji and the Dynamo in New York’s loss at BBVA Compass Stadium the previous Friday. And his contributions were noted by head coach Hans Backe.

“Overall, he’s been solid defending-wise and that’s what he is, he is a defender,” said Backe. “But I think also he has improved in his attacking game, even if we sometimes during this game had too many final passes from the back four. But that depends a little bit that Houstowoman soccer jerseyn drops. They don’t press that high, they drop and get back in a 4-1-4-1 formation, which is difficult to break down.

“But the back four, there has to be that kind of passion to defend. They’re on the pitch to defend and it’s good that we can have a cleansheet tonight.”

While his defensive efforts might be what Backe signaled out the most, what fans are more likely to remember is Holgersson’s 61st-minute goal which broke the deadlock after the Red Bulls wasted chance after chance. The scenario unfolded when Tim Cahill headed a cross back to a wide-open Holgersson in front of goal, and the Swedish center back tapped it home.

The tally was Holgersson’s second of the season, but it is likely to be just as memorable as his first. Not just because this one was a winner, but because it was a winner that came with his family in attendance.
